Ukulele Facts
Like their acoustic guitar cousins, ukuleles have hollow bodies. The tone of the ukulele is produced by the vibration of the strings, which is amplified by the body of the uke, and its resonating chamber.
Although there are more than 10 different kinds of ukuleles, the 4 most common are the: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. Then of course there are a multitude of materials that a uke could be made of as well.
Since the ukulele is much easier to learn than the guitar to start with, it makes a great gateway instrument for anyone starting out.
These reasons—and many more—likely contribute to the ukulele’s steady rise in popularity over the past decade.
